From Whitby

"Tip-top garage rock from Whitby, one of my favourite BBC Introducing turns." Bob Fischer, BBC Tees.

 

The current line up of Tom Rice, Kyle Waterfield, Alan Boyes and Chris Corner formed in the bleak midwinter of 2012, Ten Foot Tom and the Leprosy Crooks have been making a big noise in Whitby and around the country for the last few years.

 

They combine infectious, dirty rock and blues riffs with driving bass and drums and heart felt, catchy melodies. They were recently invited to do a live accoustic session for BBC Tees' Bob Fischer and also BBC Radio York's Jericho Keys. Jericho described the band's sound as 'Bob Dylan fired up with Primal Scream'. Nebby Nebworth reviewed the band's gig at The Fulford Arms 'Behind the White Door' night:

 

"This four-piece is a real band. Everything about them is real and served on a plate of honesty for all to see. They play hard garage tunes which smack you in the face before letting you relax a bit, with a softer garage rock ditty, then they smack you in the face again with another spit of garage venom. Their sound is heavily rooted in old blues, but has been vamped up with modern garage to make a big sound that is capable of filling any room. Early Kings of Leon springs to mind, as does The Sonics. I also get moments of Deus and Sonic Youth. It's a full-sounding package, that packs a wallop of a punch."
